There is enough to share.
AfroChicano Press practices a gift economy. Our workshops, readings, and retreats are given freely — sustained by friends who give so the next writer can take a seat. Add your gift to the loop.
The Abundance Loop
Your gift creates a circular abundance loop: because we know others are there to support us, we can give to others without expectation of return. Each gift joins a growing chain of kindness and care — and lets us keep our programs free and open to all.
You give from the overflow. Your place was paid in full by those who came before; your gift holds a place for those still to come. The more the gift circulates, the more there is to give.
Giving levels
Give according to your ability. Whatever your season, there is a place for you in the loop.
Amiga/o/x
You value the work, and right now cash isn't flowing — so you give what you can, when you can.
Give at this level →Prima/o/x
You've felt the impact and have a little to spare — so you cover your own place, and a few others' too.
Give at this level →Comadre / Compadre
You're committed to sustaining this work, and abundance flows to you — so you give generously in return.
Give at this level →No one is turned away for lack of means. If none of these fit your season, give what feels right — every gift holds a place for someone.
What a gift does
A journal and pen, gifted to a writer joining a workshop.
Lodging and three meals for one writer on a weekend retreat.
The work, kept free
- Writing Circles
Local communities that write together — including the signature Write to Heal circle.
- Readings
Writers share their work aloud, opening community dialogue and inquiry.
- Writing Retreats
Time and space to write, reflect, and connect away from the everyday.
- Dinner Dialogues
One topic, diverse perspectives, a shared meal — difference to sit with, not settle.
Add your gift to the loop.
Your gift keeps our programs free and open to writers of all backgrounds and ages — and holds a place for the one who comes next.
